NPFL slams N7m fine, stadium ban on Remo Stars

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a ₦7 million fine on Remo Stars for violating league regulations during their matchday 20 fixture against Ikorodu City.

In addition to the financial penalty, the club has been ordered to relocate to Ibadan, where it will host its remaining home matches for the rest of the season.

The sanctions followed multiple infractions, including inadequate security arrangements, the throwing of objects onto the pitch, and acts of misconduct by supporters.

Specifically, Remo Stars were fined ₦2 million for failing to provide sufficient and effective security, while an additional ₦1 million was imposed for objects thrown onto the field of play. The club will also pay ₦1 million for improper conduct by supporters and another ₦1 million for misconduct deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

Furthermore, the NPFL imposed an extra ₦2 million as compensation for damage caused to the away team’s bus and supporters.

The club has been given 48 hours to appeal the sanctions.
