Paul Pogba sustained another thigh injury on Tuesday during Monaco’s opening training session of their camp in England, raising fresh questions over his future at the club.
The 2018 French World Cup winner picked up the injury to his left thigh while Monaco trained at the English national football centre at St George’s Park, just two days after the club defeated Liverpool in a friendly.
The 33-year-old midfielder had only recently returned to full team training following an extended absence caused by problems with his right knee.
Pogba has featured for just one half of football for Monaco during the current pre-season campaign.
Sources familiar with the situation said the latest injury indicates that Pogba remains some distance from reaching the fitness level needed to start the new Ligue 1 season.
The Frenchman returned to football after serving 18 months of a four-year doping suspension but managed only six Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last season, playing a combined 115 minutes.
