Prince of Wales, his son, George see England heartbreak at Euro 2024 final

The Prince of Wales expressed his sentiments, stating “this time it just wasn’t meant to be” after he and his son, Prince George, watched England play against Spain in the Euro final in Berlin.

Following England’s defeat, the King encouraged manager Gareth Southgate and his team to “hold your heads high” in a letter.

He emphasized that reaching the final was “a really great achievement in itself” and urged the team to focus on “the many triumphs which I have no doubt lie ahead.”

Harry Styles, Piers Morgan, Olly Murs, and Louis Tomlinson were also present, joining thousands of fans at the Olympiastadion.

The British royals were accompanied by Felipe VI, King of Spain, and his daughter, Princess Sofia of Spain.

Spain won the match with a score of two goals to England’s one.

Posting on X, Prince William wrote: “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. W.”

William, 42, and George, 10, watched the match alongside Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Lisa Nandy.

Piers Morgan, 59, shared a photo on X with his two sons at the game, captioned: “Come on England – bring this thing home!” He also posted a picture with TV presenter Ben Shepard and former footballer Chris Kamara on his way to the game.

Popstar Olly Murs documented his journey to Berlin on Instagram, posting a video of himself leaving the airport and singing “it’s coming home” in an England shirt.

Famous footballing faces at the game included Peter Crouch, Arsène Wenger, and Gareth Bale. Ed Sheeran, spotted at the semi-final on Wednesday in Dortmund, was also present, along with Formula One drivers Lando Norris and George Russell.

Russell posted a picture with his Spanish girlfriend, Carmen Montero Mundt, on Instagram, captioned: “Special to have both of our countries in the @euro2024 final. One of us will be happy tonight.”

Comedian Rob Beckett shared his journey to the Olympiastadion on Instagram, explaining he had been on holiday in Greece with his family but left them to attend the final.

Romesh Ranganathan, Ellie Goulding, Little Simz, Stephen Fry, and Sir Patrick Stewart sent messages of support to the team ahead of the final.
