PSG star Hakimi set to face trial over rape allegation

Paris Saint-Germain defender and Morocco national team captain Achraf Hakimi is set to stand trial over a rape allegation.

Several French media outlets, including France 24, reported this on Tuesday, citing confirmation from judicial sources and the player’s legal representatives.

The case originates from a complaint filed on February 26, 2023, by a then-24-year-old woman who alleged she was raped at Hakimi’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, after the pair met on social media and she visited late on February 24.

Five days later, a formal indictment was issued against the then-24-year-old former Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid player.

Prosecutors in Nanterre initially requested in August 2025 that the case be referred to a criminal court for trial.

Tuesday’s confirmation signals the close of the investigative phase, with the examining judge deciding the matter should proceed to trial.

Hakimi, 27, has repeatedly denied the accusations, insisting the encounter was consensual.

In a statement posted Tuesday on X, he expressed frustration with the process while reaffirming his innocence:

“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false.

“This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly,” Hakimi stated.

No trial date has been publicly announced.
