Sassuolo stun Juventus with last-kick winner in Serie A thriller

Vasilije Adzic scored with the final kick of the match as Sassuolo shocked Juventus 3-2 in a dramatic Serie A encounter at the MAPEI Stadium.

Juventus started strongly, with Nico Gonzalez hitting the crossbar, but the match exploded into life during a frantic final 25 minutes.

Sebastiano Esposito opened the scoring for Sassuolo in the 65th minute before substitute Edon Zhegrova equalised for Juventus in the 82nd.

Sassuolo regained the lead in the 89th minute when Darryl Bakola won possession, drove forward and set up Kieron Bowie to finish.

Zhegrova appeared to rescue Juventus again with another superb finish in the 91st minute, but Sassuolo had the final say.

In stoppage time, Adzic who is on loan from Juventus found himself unmarked inside the visitors’ box and curled a brilliant effort into the top-right corner to seal a stunning victory.

Adzic, understandably, chose not to celebrate against his parent club.

The defeat was Juventus’ first league loss of the season, despite the Bianconeri having 18 shots compared with Sassuolo’s 10.

Sassuolo also continued their impressive home record against Juventus, winning three of their last four meetings at the MAPEI Stadium.
