Simon, Akor Adams on target in Nigeria’s 2‑1 friendly win over Iran

The Super Eagles secured a 2-1 win over the Iran national football team in a friendly match on Friday, courtesy of goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams.

Nigeria opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Simon found the back of the net, assisted by Samuel Chukwueze. The Super Eagles extended their lead in the 52nd minute through Akor Adams, with Ademola Lookman providing the setup.

Iran’s Mehdi Taremi reduced the deficit in the 67th minute, but Nigeria managed to hold on for the victory.

This friendly forms part of Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming matches, giving Coach Eric Chelle the chance to test different combinations and fine-tune the squad ahead of competitive fixtures.

Looking forward, the Super Eagles are set to face the Jordan national football team in another international friendly on March 31 at Mardan Stadyumu in Antalya, Turkey. The match is part of a four-nation tournament aimed at providing competitive opportunities for teams that have qualified for the World Cup and for squad rebuilding.

Although Nigeria will not participate in the World Cup in June, these friendlies are crucial for developing the team and maintaining match sharpness.

Fans remain hopeful about the Super Eagles’ attacking prowess as the team continues its rebuilding process and gains international experience.
