PSG forward Desire Doue has declared that the club is aiming to win every available trophy this season after scoring the decisive goal in their Super Cup victory over Aston Villa.
The French champions were pushed hard in Wednesday’s European season curtain-raiser but eventually secured a 2-1 victory to claim the trophy for the second consecutive year.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 20th minute after converting a pass from Doue, before 17-year-old Brian Madjo restored parity for Villa just before half-time after missing several earlier opportunities.
Doue then restored PSG’s advantage shortly after the hour mark, beating Marco Bizot with a left-footed effort into the far corner. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but was awarded following a VAR review, which showed Matty Cash had kept the Frenchman onside.
The France international became the first player since Luis Suarez in 2015 to score and assist in the same Super Cup match. Suarez achieved the feat for Barcelona against Sevilla.
Doue also became the first player since Sadio Mane in 2019 to register multiple goal contributions in a Super Cup match.
PSG enjoyed a remarkable 2025-26 campaign, winning Ligue 1, the Champions League, the Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the Trophee des Champions. The club had also claimed five trophies the previous season.
Doue insists the French giants have no intention of lowering their ambitions.
“The state of mind we have is to always win, to be as competitive as we can be.
“We are very happy. Coming back from vacation, we knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we put things in place tonight. The goal, above all, is to win everything this year.”
The victory made PSG only the fourth club to win consecutive UEFA Super Cups, joining Ajax, AC Milan and Real Madrid.
Luis Enrique also became just the third manager to win the competition three times, having previously lifted the trophy with Barcelona in 2015 and PSG in 2025.
Only Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola have won the Super Cup more times, with five and four victories respectively.
PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov also played a key role, making three saves to deny Aston Villa.
Despite PSG having less preparation time than their opponents ahead of the new campaign, the Russian goalkeeper believes the team demonstrated sufficient readiness.
“It’s just like usual. It’s very good, at the beginning of the season, to have a title,” he said. “We haven’t trained much, but I think we’ve shown that we’re ready for the season.”
PSG will have another chance to add to their trophy haul on Sunday when they face Lens in the Trophee des Champions. They will then begin their Ligue 1 title defence against Rennes the following week.
