Super Eagles finish group stage unbeaten with victory against Uganda

Nigeria extended their perfect run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 triumph over Uganda in their final Group C encounter at Fez Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday.

Paul Onuachu put the Super Eagles ahead in the 28th minute, finishing from close range after connecting with a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, giving Nigeria a well-deserved first-half lead.

The Eagles controlled most of the opening half, creating multiple chances while Uganda struggled to match their pace and movement. Nigeria increased the pressure after the break, doubling their lead in the 62nd minute.

Samuel Chukwueze delivered a precise cross for Raphael Onyedika, who calmly controlled the ball and slotted it into the bottom left corner. Just five minutes later, Onyedika scored again, firing into the bottom right from about 15 yards after another Chukwueze assist following a swift attacking move involving Onuachu.

Uganda, reduced to ten men, pulled one back in the 75th minute when substitute Okello set up Mato, who delicately chipped the ball over goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. However, the Cranes were unable to mount a full comeback.

The victory secures Nigeria the top spot in Group C with a perfect nine points, while Uganda finish at the bottom and exit the tournament.
