Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has emphasized the importance of the team booking their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The three-time African champions failed to qualify for the previous edition of the tournament held in Qatar.
Eric Chelle’s men are currently fighting for a ticket to the global showpiece through the playoffs.
Nigeria will take on the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final round of the African playoffs in Rabat on Sunday.
The winner will advance to the Intercontinental Playoffs scheduled to take place in Mexico in March 2026.
Osimhen urged his teammates to give everything, stressing that missing two consecutive World Cups is not an option.
“We can get it done,” Osimhen told ESPN ahead of the showdown with the Leopards.
“We have the squad to actualize this dream of going to the World Cup because everyone wants to go to the World Cup.
“We have to be at the World Cup because we missed out on the last one and I think we have the quality to do it.”
