Bayern Munich travelled to face Augsburg in the fifth round of the Bundesliga, where an unexpected moment made history.
Just five seconds after kick-off, Augsburg forward Robin Fellhauer found the net after Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made a costly mistake. Neuer’s attempted pass was blocked by Fellhauer, who capitalised on the error to give Augsburg an early lead.
The goal is reportedly the fastest ever scored across matches in Europe’s top five leagues.
The previous record belonged to former AC Milan winger Rafael Leão, who scored against Sassuolo in the 2020/21 Serie A season just 6.76 seconds after the referee blew the whistle to start the match.
