Denis Undav has climbed to the top of the adidas Golden Boot standings at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 after another impressive display for Germany.
The Germany forward scored twice after coming off the bench in his side’s 2-1 win over Côte d’Ivoire at Toronto Stadium on Saturday, taking his goal tally at the tournament to three.
The VfB Stuttgart striker had already made his mark in Germany’s opening match against Curaçao, registering one goal and two assists, helping him move ahead in the race for the tournament’s top scorer award.
Sharing second place on three goals are Lionel Messi and Canada striker Jonathan David.
Messi netted a hat-trick in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Algeria at Kansas City Stadium.
David also scored three times as Canada cruised to a 6-0 win over Qatar in Vancouver on June 18.
Several other star players remain in contention for the award, including Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
The adidas Golden Boot is awarded to the player who finishes as the tournament’s leading scorer. If two or more players end level on goals, assists will serve as the first tiebreaker, as determined by FIFA’s Technical Study Group.
Should players remain tied after goals and assists are considered, the award will be decided by total minutes played, with the player who has spent fewer minutes on the pitch ranked higher.
