World Cup Qualifiers: South Africa to host Super Eagles

South Africa’s Bafana Bafana are set to host three-time African champions, Nigeria, in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match scheduled for September 9, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

In a statement released on Sunday, Nigeria Football Federation’s Head of Communications, Ademola Olajire, announced that the much-anticipated match will kick off at 4 p.m. GMT — equivalent to 5 p.m. Nigerian time and 6 p.m. in South Africa.

The Toyota Stadium, formerly known as Vodacom Park and later Free State Stadium, is located in South Africa’s judicial capital, Bloemfontein. Opened in 1995, the stadium has a seating capacity of 46,000 spectators.

The potentially decisive Matchday 8 clash is expected to play a crucial role in determining which team secures the sole qualification spot from Africa’s Group C for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

The encounter will come just three days after the Super Eagles host Rwanda’s Amavubi on September 6.
