The Taraba State Police Command, in a joint operation with the military and local hunters, has successfully rescued a kidnapped foreign national.

The victim, identified as Gil Itamar, an Israeli citizen and employee of SCC Company, was abducted by armed assailants on April 3, 2025, in Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road.

According to a statement by Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer James Lashen, the abduction was reported at approximately 10:30 AM by Alhaji Saidu, an SCC Company staff member in Takum. The victim had been seized around 9:15 AM the same day.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Takum swiftly mobilized officers from the 67 PMF, alongside military personnel and hunters, to the scene. An intensive search-and-rescue operation ensued, leading to a confrontation with the kidnappers near Kofai Ahmadu. After a fierce gun battle, the criminals were forced to retreat, allowing the safe recovery of the hostage.

The rescued victim is currently receiving medical attention at SCC Company’s medical facility in Takum. Meanwhile, security forces are actively pursuing the fleeing suspects to ensure they face justice.

Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Bretet Emmanuel, praised the operatives for their bravery and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding residents. He issued a stern warning to criminals, urging them to leave the state or face relentless law enforcement action.
