Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has launched an online registration portal and identity cards for members of his Obidient Movement, both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

This development was announced in a joint statement issued in Abuja by the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko, and its Director of Strategic Communications and Media, Nana Kazaure.

According to the statement, each identity card will feature a QR code in the bottom right-hand corner for authentication purposes, as well as the flag of the holder’s country of residence.

The statement partly read: “The Obidient registration portal supports Nigerians and fellow Obidients living in the diaspora. You will notice that the ID card displays a flag. For instance, if you are not resident in Nigeria, the top right-hand corner will show the flag of your country of residence.

“This will allow us to visibly showcase the spirit of diversity, camaraderie, and unity within the Obidient Movement, and highlight the global reach of our message. The ‘OBX’ prefix is constant on all ID cards, whether Nigerian or Diasporan.

“The QR code at the bottom right-hand corner authenticates the card. It can be scanned using any QR scanner, such as a smartphone, providing Obidients with a secure and reliable means of interacting with one another.

“Thus, if you wish to support or conduct business with a fellow Obidient, you can scan the QR code or verify the OBX ID online to confirm that the individual is genuine and truly represents what they claim.”
