The Nigerian singer Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, known as Portable, has received a three-month prison sentence.
The sentencing took place under Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo in Ogun State.
In April 2023, Portable faced charges in the Magistrates’ Court in Ifo, which included assault and theft of musical instruments, as stated in his charge sheet No. MIF/192C/2023.
He was granted bail in the amount of N300,000, secured by two sureties from his close family members.
Reports indicate that he appeared in court last Thursday and was subsequently remanded due to his failure to attend previous hearings, despite several adjournments.
Police prosecutor Inspector Olumide Awoleke previously informed the court that the offenses committed by Habeeb Okikiola took place on 18 November 2022 at around 11 am in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.
Chief Magistrate Ilo found Portable guilty of counts 1 and 2, imposing a one-month prison sentence with the option of a N10,000 fine for Count 1, and a two-month prison sentence with the option of a N20,000 fine for Count 2.
