Insecurity will be a key topic of discussion as Northern governors and traditional rulers gather in Kaduna today to address pressing regional challenges.

The meeting is being held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna.

Among the major issues on the agenda are the persistent insecurity plaguing the North, widespread poverty, the alarming number of out-of-school children, and broader socioeconomic difficulties affecting the region.

Governors from Zamfara, Kebbi, Gombe, Niger, and Kaduna States have already arrived for the talks. Also in attendance are several prominent traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli; the Etsu Nupe; the Emirs of Zamfara, Bauchi, Katsina, Ilorin, and Keffi.

The meeting is being chaired by Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who also serves as Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna is the chief host and will deliver the welcome address.
