Three senators from Kebbi State have officially switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senators are Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi Central; Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North; and Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South.

Their defection letters were read during Tuesday’s plenary by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over the session.

The event was witnessed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.

Jibrin hailed the defections as a significant boost for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“It shows that there will be a lot of successes and victories for the APC in the future. It is just a testimony, a kind of a sign of what is going to happen,” he said.

“For the first time, we have a progressive president of this country and Nigerians are beginning to understand the ideas of progressive politics.

“I know, by the grace of God, any future election—all the future elections in the future—victory will come our way.

“So let me congratulate Mr President and the party chairman, and I urge you to continue on this good work you are doing for the party and the nation at large.”

The senators cited internal crises and “unresolved divisions” within the PDP in Kebbi as part of their reason for exiting the party.
