Two Helicopters collide in Finland, claim lives

Several people died on Saturday when two helicopters, carrying a total of five individuals, collided mid-air over Finland and crashed to the ground, police have confirmed.”The accident has resulted in multiple fatalities.

The exact number of victims and the identities of those on board are still being established,” police said in a statement.

According to media reports, the helicopters had departed from Estonia and were transporting businessmen—three in one aircraft and two in the other.

Reports indicated the collision occurred west of Helsinki, the capital, around midday. Authorities have yet to provide any insight into the cause of the crash.Finnish newspaper Iltalehti quoted a witness, Antti Marjanen, who said they observed one helicopter strike the other during a manoeuvre.

“One of them dropped like a stone, and the other descended more slowly. I didn’t hear any sound,” Marjanen reportedly said.
