Officers of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Obajana Division in Kogi State, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and Fulani vigilantes, have rescued three kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Ankomi Forest.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Command, William Aya, the victims were rescued unharmed following a gun battle between the joint security team and the kidnappers.

Overpowered by the superior firepower of the operatives, the criminals abandoned their captives and fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.

Investigations revealed that two of the victims—Musa Abdullahi from Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State, and Abdulazeez Adamu from Okene, Kogi State—were abducted on 15 May 2025 while travelling in a J5 vehicle along Osara Road. They had been journeying from Ekpoma in Edo State to Jos, Plateau State.

The third victim, Yusuf Ibrahim from Zaria Local Government Area in Kaduna State, was also kidnapped on the same day and in the same area while travelling in a trailer.

Commending the success of the operation, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, praised the bravery of the security forces and reiterated the Command’s dedication to collaborating with other agencies to eliminate criminal activity in the state.

The Command also urged residents of surrounding communities to remain alert and to report anyone seeking treatment for suspicious injuries to the nearest security post.
