President Bola Tinubu on Thursday submitted a budget proposal totaling ₦1.48 trillion for Rivers State to the National Assembly for review and approval.
He explained that the proposal was prompted by the Supreme Court’s annulment of the state’s 2025 budget, as well as the current state of emergency in Rivers.
According to the President, ₦324 billion is earmarked for infrastructure, ₦166 billion for the health sector, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion for agriculture.
He also noted that the agricultural component of the budget is projected to create around 6,000 jobs and urged lawmakers to expedite the passage of the proposal in the interest of the state and its citizens.
