An explosion occurred on Monday afternoon along the Mararaba-Nyanya bypass in Abuja, leaving one person injured.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Josephine Adeh, the incident took place at approximately 2:50 p.m.
Upon receiving the report, officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were swiftly dispatched to the scene. The affected area was promptly cordoned off to allow for clearance and safety analysis, ensuring the protection of commuters and local residents.
Ms Adeh confirmed that one male victim was rescued from the site and immediately taken to hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
She further stated that a thorough investigation is now underway, including forensic analysis, to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.
The FCT Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, reassuring that there is no cause for alarm at present.
