An unfinished two-story structure collapsed on Monday afternoon, causing panic in the Ota-Ona neighbourhood of Ikorodu, Lagos State, with several people thought to be trapped beneath the debris.
The unfinished storey building across from the Mobil Filling Station (previously Bugon Filling Station) in the Ota-Ona district collapsed this afternoon, trapping an unknown number of people, according to Facebook user Rasheed Fatuga, who sounded the alert.
As of the time of this post, five victims had been retrieved alive, but the exact number of individuals remaining trapped remains unknown.
Rescue operations are currently ongoing, with emergency teams working tirelessly to search through the debris.
The cause of the collapse has not been officially determined.
