More than 300 armed bandits attacked a police camp in Makuku village, located in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Thursday. During the raid, they reportedly seized eight AK-47 rifles and set a patrol vehicle on fire.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. He stated that the attackers, believed to be cattle rustlers, invaded the camp around 1:00 p.m. while herding a large number of stolen cattle, allegedly taken from Niger State and en route to Zamfara.

A fierce gun battle reportedly ensued but the police operatives stationed at the camp were overpowered.

“The bandits burnt a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle and escaped with eight rifles belonging to the police unit,” Makama stated.

Following the attack, troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA and other security agencies were deployed to the area.

Search and rescue operations have since commenced, with security forces currently tracking the attackers through their escape routes.
