President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, 28 June 2025, for official visits to Saint Lucia and Brazil, according to his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga explained that Tinubu will begin with a state visit to Saint Lucia aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s ties with Caribbean nations.

Afterwards, the President will travel to Brazil to take part in the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for 6–7 July 2025. Nigeria is participating as a ‘partner country’, while South Africa, Egypt, and Ethiopia represent Africa as full BRICS members.

This year’s summit will centre on the theme: “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” Key areas of discussion include global partnerships for social, economic, and environmental development.

A highlight of Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia will be his address to a special joint session of the country’s Senate and House of Assembly at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet.

The event will be attended by the Heads of Government of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), government officials, diplomats, members of the Nigerian community, and OECS Director-General Dr Didacus Jules.

Following his address, President Tinubu will hold a high-level luncheon with OECS leaders to discuss regional cooperation.

The President also plans to visit the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries to boost educational collaboration and academic exchange between Nigeria and Saint Lucia.

Senior government officials will accompany him on both legs of the trip.
