Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State have apprehended four individuals suspected of vandalism while allegedly transporting telecom cables, electrical wires, and transformer parts from Kano to Lagos.

The suspects—Mogaji Ibrahim, Umaru Adamu, Abba Muhazu, and Adamu Idris—were intercepted at the old Ore Toll Gate along the Lagos expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area.

NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Daniel Aidamenbor, stated that the arrest was made based on credible intelligence received by the command.

“They were apprehended while transporting vandalised telecommunication wires, BEDC equipment such as transformer parts, high tension cables, copper and armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal objects from Kano to Lagos,” Aidamenbor said.

He confirmed that the items being conveyed by the suspects have been recovered and preserved as evidence.

Aidamenbor also disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations have commenced to identify their sponsors and other possible collaborators behind the criminal operation.

He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating economic sabotage, particularly activities targeting critical national assets and infrastructure across the country.
