Why some modern marriages fail – Blessing CEO

Relationship therapist Blessing CEO believes that excessive communication and overuse of social media are major factors contributing to the failure of many modern marriages.

Speaking in an interview with Instablog, she pointed out that the decline of traditional communal systems—once instrumental in resolving marital conflicts—has worsened the situation.

Blessing also emphasized that while women’s independence is empowering, it can have unintended consequences in relationships.

She explained that independence can sometimes make women overly assertive or competitive, potentially challenging their husbands’ sense of masculinity.

To maintain harmony, she encouraged women to preserve their femininity and gentleness, even when they become successful, to avoid alienating their spouses.

She added that a man may not be threatened by his wife’s accomplishments directly, but by how those accomplishments affect the dynamics of masculinity within the relationship.

According to her, when women begin to “drag shoulders” with their partners, it may lead to infidelity or the eventual breakdown of the marriage.

“In our generation, because I am working and earning money, even if I am quarrelling with my husband, what do I need to go to my husband for? Once a woman becomes independent, they begin to rub shoulders with men.

“A lot of people say that whenever a woman becomes successful, the man becomes insecure. The truth is that no man is intimidated by your success; they are only afraid of the masculinity that comes with success.

“So women should always remember to be soft, no matter how much you have, because once you start to drag shoulders with your husband, he begins to cheat and look for a woman who is softer, or he leaves the marriage,” Blessing CEO said.
