The former Minister of Sports and interim spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has stated that tackling banditry in Katsina State would be a top agenda for the opposition coalition.

His remarks came in response to Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, who had dismissed the newly formed coalition, describing its members as recycled politicians lacking innovative ideas or solutions for Nigeria’s challenges.

Governor Radda also questioned the credibility of the coalition, claiming it had nothing new to offer the Nigerian people.

In his reply, Abdullahi criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, accusing it of neglecting the worsening insecurity in Katsina. He affirmed that the ADC is committed to making the fight against insecurity in the state a key focus.

“Governor Diko Rada of Katsina wants to know what the coalition will do differently. Good question,” Abdullahi said.

“To start with, we will end banditry in his state, a task that the APC government has long given up on.”

In a statement issued on July 9, the ADC emphasized that it has no intention of destabilising the country, stressing that its pursuit of change is firmly rooted in democratic principles.

“We are not soldiers, we are politicians. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots. When the time comes, we will present our solutions and an alternative vision for Nigeria, and allow the people to decide,” the statement reads.
