Snoop Dogg has officially become a co-owner of English Championship club Swansea City, marking an unexpected crossover between the rap icon and the football world, as announced by the Welsh club.
The 53-year-old American entertainer joins Luka Modric, the former Real Madrid midfielder and Croatia World Cup finalist, in the club’s ownership structure.
Snoop Dogg had already hinted at his involvement last week when he appeared on the club’s social media pages wearing Swansea’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season. The club confirmed on Thursday that he is now an investor.
His entry into club ownership follows the November takeover by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen.
Swansea is now looking to leverage Snoop Dogg’s massive social media presence—over 100 million followers—to enhance the club’s global profile as they aim for promotion back to the Premier League, a level they haven’t reached since their 2018 relegation.
The club’s current owners have expressed intentions to increase revenue streams, allowing for more investment in players while complying with British football’s profit and sustainability rules.
The 53-year-old rapper said on the club’s website: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.
“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
Back in April, Swansea revealed that Modric had purchased a stake in the club. The Croatian midfielder, now 39, recently joined AC Milan after ending his long stint with Real Madrid.
The club’s owners tied the news to Snoop’s music legacy in a statement: “To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile.”
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.
“Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field.”
The move mirrors the success of Swansea’s Welsh rivals, Wrexham, who have made a remarkable ascent to the Championship following their 2020 purchase by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
