The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Tuesday shut down Dimple Berry, a well-known lounge in Lekki Phase 1, after receiving and verifying numerous complaints from residents about ongoing noise pollution.

The closure, carried out by LASEPA’s environmental compliance team, is part of the agency’s broader initiative to tackle environmental infractions across Lagos, with a focus on residential and mixed-use neighborhoods.

Addressing journalists after the operation, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, revealed that the agency had received numerous complaints about loud music and disturbances from the lounge.

Despite several notices and directives issued to the operators, they reportedly failed to take corrective action.

“We had no choice but to seal the premises after the operators ignored repeated warnings. This action is necessary to safeguard the health and well-being of residents in Lekki and to reinforce compliance with environmental regulations,” Dr. Ajayi stated.

He added that the lounge was given ample opportunity to install soundproofing equipment or reduce noise levels, but no meaningful effort was made.

Dr. Ajayi reaffirmed LASEPA’s commitment to enforcing environmental standards and urged entertainment and hospitality businesses to adopt noise-reduction technologies and align their operations with state guidelines.

“LASEPA remains dedicated to fostering a serene and healthy environment for all Lagos residents,” he concluded.
