Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has opened up about her challenges in finding true love, revealing that the purest form of love she has known is the bond she shares with her 10-year-old son, Jamil.
In a recent interview with ZeZe Mills, the singer reflected on her past romantic experiences, including her marriage to Tunji Balogun, which lasted from 2013 to 2018.
She admitted that what she previously thought was love now appears, in retrospect, to have been infatuation.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time, I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” the singer said.
Savage said she has now concluded that maybe love isn’t for her because she has tried over and over to find true love to no avail.
“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again, so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.
