Wike orders probe into Abuja land misuse

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated two committees to tackle violations of Abuja’s master plan and resolve a land dispute involving a private estate.

Speaking at the FCTA headquarters in Abuja, Wike decried the lack of distinction between commercial and residential areas, describing it as a breach of the city’s Certificate of Occupancy provisions.

One committee will identify areas violating approved land use, while the other will address issues between the FCTA and River Park Estate along the airport road.

“Sometimes, the government issues letters of intent for mass housing, but in many cases, the agreements are violated,” Wike said.

The minister gave both committees two weeks to conclude their investigations and submit recommendations. He urged professionalism and warned of consequences for any acts contrary to their mandate.
