VIDEO: Drama as lady disrupts flight, assaults air hostess, officials at Lagos Airport

Just days after an altercation at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja involving Wasiu Ayinde, the veteran Fuji musician, another incident occurred at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport.

The latest episode, captured in multiple videos shared on X, shows an irate female passenger assaulting a flight attendant aboard an Ibom Air plane and later confronting airport security personnel. The clips, posted on Sunday, were said to have been recorded during a Uyo-to-Lagos flight earlier that day.

In one video, while still on the aircraft, the visibly agitated passenger puts back on a missing wig and pokes a flight attendant’s head with her finger, shouting, “What did you do?” The attendant responds calmly, “She is hitting me.”

Another clip shows the passenger off the plane, shouting at airport security, pushing away cameras, and lunging at those trying to restrain her. Her shirt is noticeably torn, and witnesses claim she had earlier slapped a crew member. Eventually, security officials subdued her and escorted her into a waiting airport bus.

The cause of her outburst remains unclear. However, Michael Achimugu, director of public affairs and consumer protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), linked the drama to her refusal to follow flight protocols.

“When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff/landing, simply comply. I can’t understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this,” he tweeted, adding that “passengers need to understand that they have responsibilities, not just rights.” Achimugu confirmed that the matter would be addressed on Monday as more details emerge.

This comes shortly after the NCAA suspended two ValueJet pilots on August 5 over a safety breach at the Abuja airport’s domestic wing, an incident tied to KWAM 1’s disorderly conduct. The agency also imposed an indefinite travel ban on the musician — upgraded from an initial six-month ban — pending the outcome of its investigation into the altercation.
