A newly appointed coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Akin Olowookere, has passed away.

Reports indicate that the former Sunshine Stars of Akure player collapsed on the pitch during the team’s Monday morning training session in Ijebu-Ode and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Eyewitnesses said Olowookere suddenly fell while actively involved in the session, prompting immediate medical intervention before he was taken to the hospital.

Olowookere was only recently unveiled as one of the coaches of the Oluyole Warriors after the club parted ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led technical crew.

A respected figure in Nigerian football, he had been a long-time player for Sunshine Stars of Akure before moving into coaching and most recently served as assistant coach under former Sunshine Stars head coach, Edith Agoye.
