The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four members of a syndicate accused of defrauding the public of over ₦500 million.

State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the arrests to journalists in Lagos on Monday.

He explained that operatives from Ago-Okota Division apprehended the suspects, aged 23, 25, 27, and 36, on 16 July. The case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

“Preliminary findings show the suspects, who work for an educational consultancy, fraudulently collected more than ₦500 million from over 100 victims under the false pretence of securing Canadian and Australian work visas,” Jimoh said.

He added that the suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court once the investigation is complete. Police are continuing efforts to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
