Nigeria’s D’Tigress have moved up to eighth place in the latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings, rising from their previous 11th position.
Rena Wakama’s team clinched their fifth consecutive AfroBasket Women’s title in Côte d’Ivoire last month, defeating Mali 78-64 in a tightly contested final.
With the victory, the West Africans also secured a spot in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup final in Berlin, Germany.
D’Tigress now hold the highest ranking among African teams, with Mali in 18th place.
The United States retained the number one spot globally, followed by Australia in second place, while France, China, and Belgium round out the top five.
