The Nigeria Police Force has debunked a viral “wanted” notice circulating on social media about Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
The notice, which alleged that Ojo was declared wanted by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, was dismissed by the Force as “false and misleading.”
In a post on its official Facebook page, the police clarified that the notice did not originate from them and was never shared on any of their verified platforms.
The statement reads, “FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news.”
The police emphasized the importance of verifying information only through official NPF communication channels before sharing or reacting to news to avoid being misled by fake news.
“Verify only from official NPF channels,” the statement further reads.
