President Bola Tinubu left Yokohama, Japan, on Thursday night for Brazil, where he will begin a state visit on August 24.
According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will stop briefly in Los Angeles before proceeding to Brasília, the Brazilian capital.
Tinubu began his two-nation tour on August 15, leaving Abuja with a stopover in Dubai before arriving in Yokohama on August 18.
While in Japan, he attended the opening ceremony and plenary of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) on August 20. He also held bilateral meetings and rounded off with an interactive session with Nigerians in the Diaspora on Thursday night.
During the meeting, the President urged Nigerians abroad to contribute their expertise and resources to national development.
He said, “I am glad to listen to you and glad to report that many of our people are returning home. Some may choose to stay away for economic reasons, which is their right. But Nigeria offers opportunities, and your contribution is very much needed. If you stay away, who will build it?”
He added, “If we do not join hands and work together, we lose the hope of becoming the leaders we are destined to be.”
