The United States has approved the $825 million sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) air-launched missiles and related equipment to Ukraine.
According to the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Kyiv will finance the purchase with support from Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway, alongside a US loan guarantee.
The DSCA said the deal would enhance Ukraine’s ability to confront current and future threats, strengthening its capacity for self-defence and regional security missions.
The agency added that the sale would also advance US foreign policy and security objectives by bolstering a partner nation that contributes to political stability and economic growth in Europe.
The State Department has cleared the proposed transaction, while the DSCA has formally notified the US Congress, which must still approve the deal before it proceeds.
Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has shown little readiness to end the conflict despite sustained pressure from Washington.
Under former President Joe Biden, the US committed more than $65 billion in military aid to Ukraine. His successor, Donald Trump, has adopted a different approach, pressing European allies to assume greater responsibility for Kyiv’s military support.
