Anambra State Governor,  Charles Soludo,  has inaugurated a 489-member Governorship Election Campaign Council ahead of the 8 November poll.

Announcing the move on his official X handle, Soludo said the council would be responsible for spreading his vision for the state’s future and ensuring the message of progress and development reaches all parts of Anambra.

“This campaign council comprises carefully chosen 489 members who will help spread our vision for Anambra’s future,” Soludo stated. “I want to thank you all for accepting to serve. It is my honour to inaugurate this council as we work together for a brighter future. May Anambra continue to win!”

The governor also stressed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remains “more united than ever” despite past challenges, describing the council as a movement within the state’s population of 8.5 million people.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 16 political parties will contest the Anambra governorship election. Of these, two parties — the African Action Congress and the National Rescue Movement — nominated female candidates for governor, while six fielded women as deputy governorship candidates.

INEC further disclosed that it registered 168,187 new voters during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in July, the highest number recorded within a two-week period since the process began in 2017.
