The Bauchi State Government has terminated the employment of Emos Joshua, a teacher accused of sexual harassment, according to officials on Thursday.

Joshua, who served as a Principal Assistant Education Officer at Government College Azare, was dismissed following disciplinary action that confirmed he had breached civil service regulations, the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission said in a statement.

“The disciplinary action was taken against the officer after general disciplinary procedures had been exhausted as contained in Rules 0317 of the Public Service Rules and Regulations,” said Saleh Umar, the commission’s spokesman.

He said the officer’s conduct contravened provisions 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Rules on sexual harassment.

CSC chairman Ibrahim Muhammad said the decision was taken in line with established regulations and after due process.

“The decision taken against the officer was not punitive but to uphold discipline and integrity in the service,” Muhammad said, stressing the commission’s commitment to fairness and transparency.

He added that the measure would serve as a reminder to workers that professional conduct and adherence to rules are paramount for an effective and accountable public service.

The commission also approved the appointment of two acting deputy directors on Grade Level 16 and promoted 80 nursing officers to their next ranks, Umar said.
