The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has transferred 450,000 capsules of Pregabalin to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further investigation.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the drugs were intercepted by a patrol team on the Kano–Hadejia Road. He noted that the 60 cartons of capsules were concealed in a van and lacked any documentation or proof of ownership.
Maigatari explained that the handover aligns with a cooperation agreement signed between NDLEA and NAFDAC in November 2024. He added that NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), directed the transfer so NAFDAC could conduct additional testing and determine the legal classification of the drugs.
Receiving the consignment, the NAFDAC coordinator in Kano praised NDLEA for the cooperation and assured that the agency would work closely with them to stop the illegal circulation of controlled medicines.
