The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, has ordered the closure of all markets within Ibadan and its surrounding areas on Friday, September 26, 2025—the day of the coronation—in honour of the new monarch.
In a statement he personally signed on behalf of the market leaders’ council, zonal executives, and traders across the state, Asiwaju Abass prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign that would foster development in both Ibadanland and Oyo State.
He explained that traders from the eleven local government areas of Ibadanland have been encouraged to attend the historic coronation at Mapo Hall as a mark of respect.
“As traders, we must show respect to our revered monarch by honouring the coronation. Markets will remain closed to allow full participation,” Abass stated.
He also extended birthday felicitations to Oba Ladoja, wishing him longevity and many happy returns.
