Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets kick off their campaign at the 2025 WAFU B U-17 Championship today (Wednesday) with a Group B clash against Benin Republic at the Stade du Lycee Scientifique, Yamoussoukro.
Benin go into the tie under pressure after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opening game on Sunday. Another loss would confirm their exit from the tournament.
The WAFU B Championship also serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2025 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, which will determine Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
The Golden Eaglets, five-time world champions, will be hoping to improve on their third-place finish at the last edition and make a strong start in their quest for continental glory.
