In a statement shared on the official Facebook page of Coker/Aguda LCDA, Council Chairman Ogidan Azeez expressed profound grief over the death of the Council Manager, describing her as “a pillar of dedication, professionalism, and humility, whose warmth and tireless commitment to service left an indelible mark on the Council and the wider community.”

He stressed that her passing represents a painful loss not only to Coker-Aguda LCDA but also to everyone who benefited from her selfless service and outstanding leadership.

Mrs. Akinola’s death is the fifth involving female local government officials in Lagos within just two months of the July 27, 2025 inauguration of the current councils.

On August 13, 2025, Mrs. Oluwakemi Rufai, councillor for Ward C in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, died less than two weeks after taking office.

Just five days later, on August 18, 2025, another councillor, Mrs. Zainab Shotayo of Ward C, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, also passed away.

On September 20, 2025, Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, died, followed two days later, on September 22, 2025, by the passing of Mrs. Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, councillor for Ward F in Somolu LG.

This succession of sudden deaths has continued to shock and unsettle the grassroots political landscape in Lagos State.
