The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has celebrated teachers around the world on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2025, calling for urgent action to tackle the global shortage of educators.

In a statement released on Sunday, Tinubu described teachers as “true heroes who shape minds, nurture dreams, and guide generations.” She praised their invaluable contribution to nation-building and the future of humanity, while also paying heartfelt tribute to educators across Nigeria.

Reflecting on her own experience as a lifelong teacher, the First Lady expressed deep respect for the teaching profession and those who dedicate their lives to educating others.

Tinubu highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration, “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” as a timely reminder of the urgent need to address the declining number of teachers worldwide.

She emphasised that the challenge must be tackled through greater support for educators, investment in their professional development, and by encouraging more people to join the profession.

“Teachers are true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations. As a lifelong teacher myself, I salute you all on this special day,” she stated.

“Happy World Teachers’ Day 2025,” Tinubu concluded.
