Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the disbursement of ₦2.321 billion to settle pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits for retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state.

The payment covers accrued rights under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as well as gratuities and death benefits under the old Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS). With this latest release, the state government has paid ₦6.678 billion so far in 2025 and a total of ₦13.5 billion in the last two years of the current administration.

Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, emphasised that pensioners’ welfare remains a key priority, assuring that regular and prompt payments will continue to alleviate the hardship faced by senior citizens.

Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Ibrahim Balarabe, explained that 661 beneficiaries — comprising retirees and families — would benefit from the latest payout. Of the total, ₦1.736 billion is allocated for accrued rights of 511 retirees under the CPS, while ₦585 million is earmarked for gratuities and death benefits to 315 pensioners and next-of-kin under the DBS.

The bureau noted that accrued rights for CPS retirees will be credited directly into their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) with their Pension Fund Administrators. Pensioners under the DBS will be invited for screening and verification before payment.

Governor Sani reiterated that upholding retirees’ dignity is not only a legal duty but also a moral obligation. The latest disbursement, the statement added, reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding pensioners’ livelihoods, protecting their rights, and strengthening the trust of the Kaduna workforce.
