Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have landed in Santiago, Chile, for their FIFA U-20 World Cup round of 16 encounter against Argentina scheduled for Wednesday.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed their arrival in a post on its X handle on Tuesday.

Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s squad secured qualification as one of the best third-placed teams in Group F after a 1-1 draw with Colombia in their final group game on Monday.

A late penalty converted by captain Daniel Bamayi earned Nigeria a crucial point in the match.

After suffering a 1-0 defeat to Norway in their opening game, the Flying Eagles bounced back with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia before drawing with Colombia.

The team is expected to hold a training session at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos on Tuesday in preparation for their decisive clash against the South Americans.

The last meeting between Nigeria and Argentina at the U-20 World Cup came in 2023, also in the round of 16, where the Flying Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory.
