One person has been confirmed dead, and four others injured in a traffic accident that occurred at Laburo Bus Stop, opposite the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash, which took place on Tuesday, involved a Toyota Picnic space wagon with registration number BWR 181 BD and a MAN diesel truck without a registration number.
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), nine people — five men and four women — were involved in the incident.
He stated that four individuals, including two men and two women, sustained varying injuries, while one female passenger died instantly.
Akinbiyi attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding by the driver of the Toyota Picnic, who lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the moving truck from behind.
He added that the injured victims were taken to the RCCG Hospital for treatment, while the deceased’s body was deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) morgue.
According to him, the accidented vehicles have been towed away by the Mowe Police Division to clear the road and restore the free flow of traffic.
