England manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that captain Harry Kane is fully fit and set to start Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia.

According to Sky Sports on Monday, Kane, 32, was a surprise substitute during England’s 3–0 victory over Wales after missing training earlier in the week with an ankle injury. Although he did not feature in that match, Tuchel has now given an encouraging update on the striker’s recovery.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Tuchel said: “It’s very straightforward with Harry — he’s fit and can play. We did the right thing. He’s been excellent in training and is ready to go. I see no reason why he can’t play the full 90 minutes.”

The England boss also addressed the absence of Ollie Watkins, who sustained an injury during the Wales match and subsequently withdrew from the squad. “Ollie left camp, unfortunately,” Tuchel explained. “It was too painful, and he couldn’t train with us. He’s now receiving treatment at his club.”
