The national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the 103rd national executive committee (NEC) meeting.

The gathering was initially planned for October 15 at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement released on Monday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, linked the postponement to “recent developments” within the party.

Ologunagba added that a new date for the NEC meeting will be announced to members in due course.

“All NEC members should please note the postponement and be guided accordingly,” the statement reads.

The NEC serves as the party’s highest decision-making body, consisting of state governors, serving and former presidents, former vice-presidents, the chairman and secretary of the board of trustees (BoT), principal officers of the national assembly, all state chairpersons, members of the NWC, former governors, and founding members, among others.

The PDP’s national convention to elect new NWC members remains scheduled for November 15, with preparations ongoing.

However, some members believed to be linked to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), have approached the federal high court in Abuja to halt the convention.

In a ruling delivered on Thursday, James Omotosho, the presiding judge, declined the plaintiffs’ ex parte request.

He directed that all defendants be served with the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.

The case was adjourned to October 14 (today) for the hearing of the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.

Several key members of the party, including governors and lawmakers, have recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu, is expected to officially leave the PDP for the APC today, while Agbu Kefas, governor of Taraba, is also reportedly preparing to join the ruling party.
